Course description

The beginner level course introduces participants to the fundamentals of operating small trucks (5,000kg) safely and effectively. Through 11 hours of instruction, including a general knowledge exam, hands-on simulator training, and a final assessment, students develop essential driving techniques such as maneuvering, reversing, and responding to emergencies. The course also emphasises pre-trip inspections and basic maintenance to lay a solid foundation for new drivers entering the trucking industry.

Requirements

  • Participant is in possession of a General Driver's Licence – 3,000kg, Class C
  • Participant must have basic comprehensive skills (reading, writing and verbal communication)
  • One passport-sized photo
  • Birth Certificate
  • Completed digital Tank-Weld HEART Trucking Academy application form (via website Apply section).
  • Participant must be at least 21 years of age.
